Winter Gritting App Award Winning

What makes a great application, OUTCO Pulse shortlisted for APP of the year 2023

We are absolutely thrilled that our market leading service and telematics app, ‘Pulse’ has been shortlisted for ‘App of the Year 2023’ in this year’s UK Business Tech Awards.

The pace of change in technology and data utilisation is happening at light-speed and the impact of smartphones and the convenience of push-button services this brings, is driving a monumental change in business and consumer behaviour.

Our mobile app, ‘Pulse’ was designed by our in-house tech team to facilitate the accurate and efficient capture of real-time data and telematics directly from the field for OUTCO and our clients. Ensuring thousands of maintenance jobs are successfully completed every day, and that all parties including our clients, who also have access to Pulse data, are kept informed every step of the way.

We have also seen a real change since the covid lockdowns, clients are demanding better data, higher service levels and looking for service partners who are an extension of their business. Through Pulse, our customers can see what we see, communicate with our teams and enjoy the convenience of ‘push-button-service’ creating more transparent and trusted partnerships.

Consumer apps

The world of mobile applications is a crowded space. In 2021, 230 billion apps were downloaded globally, with the average person estimated to have around 60 applications on their phone and typically using around 9 apps per day. The most popular being gaming followed by business and education.

Consumer apps are big business, total revenue in the app market is estimated to be in the region of £450bn. Apps are all designed to be habit forming to get users ‘hooked’ or in the case of social media, instil a fear of missing out (FOMO).

Business app, UI and UX

For business apps, it is less about dopamine forming habits and more about the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX), taking a practical and logical approach to design while at the same time solving a common problem.
