ThermoClean™ – OUTCO Superheated Steam Cleaning

ThermoClean™ cleaning offers a versatile solution for a wide range of cleaning tasks on hard surfaces. From restoring stone tiling on walkways to tackling polished concrete, the Thermoclean™ system’s superheated steam effectively removes dirt, stains, and even stubborn substances such as chewing gum. OUTCO was tasked with cleaning and revitalisation of the exterior walls of a commercial property, a prominent exterior feature. The exterior featured a mix of brick walls and decorative stone plinths, and therefore had to be cleaned off with the minimum of abrasion.

Problem – Avoiding Abrasive Damage

Preserving Appearance – The property’s exterior is a prominent feature which needs to be preserved, making the use of harsh cleaning chemicals or abrasive methods undesirable.

Environmental & Budget Considerations – The client aimed to minimise both environmental impact and costs associated with the cleaning project.

Solution: OUTCO’s ThermoClean™ System

OUTCO proposed the ThermoClean™ system as the perfect fit. This innovative process utilises a unique combination of high temperature and gentle steam pressure to clean surfaces effectively.

• Superheated Steam Power: Cold mains water is heated to 130 degrees centigrade, creating superheated steam that penetrates and lifts stubborn grime.
• Close Range, Low Pressure: Due to the heat, the steam is applied at close range (5-15cm) but with very low pressure, ensuring delicate surfaces remain undamaged. The low pressure application avoids the typical abrasive problems associated with jetwashing.
• Environmental Responsibility: ThermoClean™ uses electricity for heating and dramatically reduces water usage (by around 75%) compared to jet washing.

A Revitalised Exterior: The property’s entire boundary was restored to its former glory, enhancing its appeal and re-establishing it as a welcoming, well-maintained space.

Time & Cost Savings: OUTCO’s efficient workflow and the potential for rapid cleaning helped keep the project on schedule and within budget. Typical costs in the South of England would be around £750 for a half-day or £1400 for a full day.

Assessment & Calibration: OUTCO technicians analysed the exterior, identifying areas of concern and determining optimal ThermoClean temperature and pressure settings for each surface type.
Brick Wall Transformation: The brick walls were treated first, with the superheated steam dissolving layers of grime, dirt, discolouration and graffiti, revealing the original brickwork without compromising its integrity.
