OUTCO partner National Pride to support the delivery of St Ninians Wellness site in Kelty

St Ninians is located in the village of Kelty, East Central Scotland alongside one of the busiest motorways (M90 J4) which connects Edinburgh, Perth, Dundee and Aberdeen.

St Ninian’s East, 181m in height, is often referred to as the “walnut whip” due to the two intertwined spiralling paths leading to its summit.

Who are National Pride?

National Pride, the consortium leading this incredible project, completed the acquisition of the site on 31 March 2021 with a goal to create sustainable, commercially viable, community benefitting, ethical developments by repurposing and rejuvenating redundant land and buildings and, to reinvest a proportion of profits into these community projects’. A world-class delivery team was assembled, like-minded professional consultants to create and deliver an exciting leisure and ecotourism destination in line with the current Local Development Plan of Fife Council and the ethos and ethics of National Pride.

We believe that access to the benefits of nature, ecotherapy, and wellness should be for everybody – regardless of income.

How are OUTCO involved?

OUTCO are one of the world-class delivery teams assembled by National Pride to assist in the development of the St Ninians Eco Therapy and Leisure Park.

Initial plans were developed to create an events arena by the former opencast mine, with an amazing backdrop and stunning location OUTCO got to work developing and clearing the area with plans to open in the summer ’22.

OUTCO teams were aware of the heritage of this site, the natural landscape and beauty and ensured no material was removed or wasted on site. Stone found in the area is crushed and reused as a surface layer to strengthen pathways and the arena base course.

A coal road identified to the south of the area was cleared, a natural car park built and opened to the public ensuring those use the site for walking were still able to do so safely utilising the road already in existence ensuring a safer passage to the beautiful walkways.

A north entrance car park is to be developed ensuring access to everyone, no matter ability, from the south or north entrance to the events arena.

The consortium at National Pride have fantastic plans for further developments to the site in Kelty and across the UK that will see OUTCO support them in developing a vision into reality in using economic regeneration to create local wealth, health and wellbeing for communities and social vibrancy.
