OUTCO’s Health and Safety management system is OHSAS 18001:2007, 14001:2015 and 9001:2015 certified with zero non-conformance and minors, providing the framework, policies, processes and methods to effectively manage all Health and Safety risks throughout our clients’ outdoor estates.
Our systems are externally audited by independent parties, giving full assurance that we meet our legal and statutory obligations, while providing a safe working environment for all.
Industry best-practice risk assessments
As part of our site survey process during a contract mobilization period, we use industry best practice risk assessments to identify potential health and safety hazards and assess risk likelihood and associated severity. Suitable mitigation measures will be identified and used to create the method statements for all areas of work we carry out. OUTCO method statements include details on how to prepare for a task and the safe systems of work that must be followed when carrying out the task, including how to use PPE, signage, equipment, chemicals and machinery.
Innovative real-time GPS tracking – indemnity against reputational risk
OUTCO’s GPS tracking is completely unique in the industry and provides the only 100% complete operator trail for indemnity. Location data is recorded using set locations called ‘geo-fences’ which log entry, exit, duration as well as all ping data within the location for all our sites. GPS tracking is installed on all OUTCO vehicles and operator smartphones, providing our managers and supervisors access to team and individual movements in real time.
All of our operators receive pre-contract induction and on-going training on working safely and in accordance with our method statements. Operators are not permitted to work on sites until their line manager has confirmed that they have both received and understood their health and safety training. Training is delivered in-house and via specialist training providers.
In addition to task-specific training, our operators receive training on safe working best practice, including fire safety, manual handling, slips and trips, lone working, vehicle safety, reporting near misses, incidents and accidents. This level of reporting of both accidents and near misses is key to our ethos of continual improvement.
